Background: The Oppenheimer Group is a business consulting company based out of Burlingame, specializing in creating happy teams, happy customers, and happy profits. Kate Oppenheimer, Founder & CEO, works with C-level executives who are struggling with prioritizing their time and not having enough bandwidth to engage in all the activities to make their businesses successful.
Challenges: When Kate first began The Oppenheimer Group, she needed assistance in designing a comprehensive business model, deciding on a name for her business, and getting registered with appropriate parties in the County of San Mateo to get her business set up.
Actions Taken: Kate met with an San Mateo SBDC business advisor and provided Kate guidance on naming strategies and key considerations such as company structure and resources that she could tap into to help with setting up her business operations. After their discussion, Kate was motivated in putting her business model into an actual plan. She did further brainstorming on her business name, and additional market research on her potential clients before she finalized her business and leadership service offerings. She also connected with the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce to start networking and meeting with prospective clients.
Results: To date, Kate has launched her business and leadership coaching practice, chose a strategic name for her business, built a great website and found a business partner whose complementary services strengthen her core offerings. She is an active member of the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce and has developed a clientele whom she is passionate about working with. Her sales increased dramatically in 2015 and she is looking forward to serving and growing her clientele in the coming year.
